VMware gets new cloud computing leadership

Worldwide virtualization and cloud technologies leader VMware recently announced that its plans to improve its hybrid cloud offerings include new leadership.

According to the company, Bill Fathers, who previously served as president at cloud solutions provider Savvis, has been named the senior vice president and general manager of the new Hybrid Cloud Services Business unit. VMware hopes that this appointment will aid the business in continuing to provide cutting-edge virtualization options.

"With [Fathers'] expertise and proven ecosystem mindset, VMware and its partners will deliver the richest set of complementary cloud offerings and empower our customers to achieve maximum value from their hybrid cloud investments," said Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware.

At Savvis, Fathers oversaw a number of important operations, including sales, product development and marketing, in North America, Europe and Asia. He has more than 15 years of experience.

ITWorld reported that the implementation of hybrid cloud systems has become such a prominent focus for many businesses because it offers users the best of both worlds. Companies are able to take advantage of offsite infrastructures while still enjoying superior security, VMware cloud infrastructure and management product marketing manager Aaron Steppat told the source.
