VMware releases new server to improve corporate communications

On July 11, VMware solutions expanded to include the new Zimbra Collaboration Server 8.0, which offers new, innovative features that allow for better connectivity. The tool also works to make the transition to cloud services an easier process.

The server allows users to save files and documents to a personal cloud storage environment, which also houses email inboxes, calendars, voice and social applications.

"Zimbra 8 is designed to make end users more efficient by connecting them with their data while providing IT departments a simple way to manage the transition to a public or private cloud and help them deliver the benefits promised by the post-PC era," explained VMware senior director John Robb.

According to eWEEK, other versions of the open-source-based platform already boast a client list of 250,000 companies globally, and 50,000 registered members in its development community.

Robb told the news source that users who enjoy older versions of Zimbra will be able to realize a higher level of efficiency that comes with connecting all of their data from one remote location.
