HP has recently jumped right into the middle of the flash storage wars.  Their all-flash 3PAR 7450 array was previously marketed mainly to fulfill a checkbox so that HP could claim, “We have an all-flash array, too.”  However, with the new features that were announced this past week, the 7450 will soon be a top contender.  HP has decided that it’s time to get serious about all-flash storage arrays. What's new with the 3PAR 7450 The 3PAR 7450 was actually introduced a year ago, building on the success of their 7000-series 3PAR line.  Unfortunately, it was prohibitively expensive.  This past week, HP announced deduplication for their flash arrays, as well as 1.9TB MLC flash drives.  This dramatically increases the usable capacity of these arrays, cutting the cost per usable GB down to $2 - on par with 15K SAS disks.  HP is claiming 4:1 - 10:1 compaction, and since the inline deduplication...
